Welcome to Dosbarth Maple's class page. In Dosbarth Maple, Mr Brownhill is our class Teacher and we have Miss Goodwin as our class Teaching Assistant. Miss Jones will be teaching Forest School on Thursday afternoons, providing the pupils with fantastic opportunities for learning outside the classroom. PE will be on a Monday Afternoon, so make sure you have your kit in school.

AOLE 

This half term Dosbarth Maple will have two focuses. In the first two weeks, the class will be undertaking their first topic, named, The Dragon's Den. During these weeks the class will be tasked to design, create and sell a product. Working in collaborative groups, the children will have to complete market research, costing activities, advertising and design tasks, before they can create and sell their products. This is a 'real world' topic, with the profit made going towards a class treat. 

The second focus for this half term is 'Heroes and Villains'. This topic will be introduced to the children, with them completing a variety of activities around the topic, before the children decide on where they want their learning journey to go next. To begin with the children will look at Pop Art, heroes and villains in history and modern day heroes. 

Literacy and Numeracy 

In maths we will be focusing on fractions, multiplication and division; as well as continuing daily times table practice. During literacy sessions, the class will be focusing on developing their ability to write non-chronological reports, using the Talk for Writing approach. 

General Information

The children will be expected to return their book bags to school every Friday so reading books can be changed regularly. It would be really helpful if you could write a little note each week in their reading record to let us know how they've got on.

Homework 

Here you will find our Homework grids. There are 6 activities in total all differentiated so please Choose which activities you think are most appropriate for your child and complete at least 1 from each section. You can submit Homework via Google Classroom, Twitter or bring it into school. 

Google Classroom 

All of our class are now set up on Google Classroom, we will be using Google Classroom throughout our year in class and I will also be setting tasks to be completed at home via Google Classroom.
