    Welcome to Dosbarth Elder's Class Page

    In Dosbarth Elder, Mr Heitzman is our class teacher and Miss Camps is our class teaching assistant. We are very lucky to have Miss Jones who runs our Forest School with us every week as well. 

    Here on our class page, you will find important information and documents, as well as an overview of our learning in action.

    General Information

    PE: Dosbarth Elder will have PE every Thursday. Children can come into school wearing their PE kit on Thursdays. They should wear black shorts or joggers, a plain white top and plain black trainers. Please make sure all items are clearly labelled with your child’s name.

    Forest School: Dosbarth Elder will have Forest School every Friday with Miss Jones. Children will need warm outdoor clothing and suitable footwear that they do not mind getting wet or muddy.

    Our Focus – Celebrations

    In this topic, we will explore how celebrations bring people together and help to shape our identity, traditions and sense of belonging. We will learn about a range of celebrations from different cultures, religions and communities, considering why people celebrate and how traditions are passed down through generations. In Literacy, we will use stories, discussion and research to develop our speaking, reading and writing skills, including opportunities to write for different purposes and audiences. We will also explore the music, art, food and customs linked to different celebrations, compare traditions from around the world, and reflect on the celebrations and special occasions that are important to us and our families.

    Homework

    Here you will find our Homework Grids. Each grid is linked to our current class topic and includes a range of activities across the six areas of learning. This term our homework grid is for 'Celebrations'. 

    There are three activities to choose from in each section, giving children some choice in how they complete their homework. Children are expected to complete the required number of activities from each section over the course of the term, with the remaining activities available as optional extras. Completed work should be uploaded to Seesaw or handed directly to the class teacher.

    Helping at home

    Alongside our homework grids, children have access to a range of online learning platforms to support their learning at home. Login details have been sent home where required.

    We encourage children to use these platforms regularly to practise key skills and build their confidence. Please click on the links below to access each platform.

    Reading at home

    Regular reading at home is an important part of children’s learning. We encourage children to read as often as possible and to enjoy a wide range of books and texts. Talking about what they have read, discussing unfamiliar vocabulary and asking questions about the text are all great ways to support reading at home.
