In Dosbarth Catkin, Mrs Mapletoft is the Class Teacher and Miss Wright is the Teaching Assistant. Mrs Williams leads Dosbarth Catkin for one and a half days a week, every Wednesday and the afternoon session on a Tuesday. Miss Wiggin works in Nursery running Acorns, our wrap around Nursery provision with the support of Mrs Szakowska.
In Dosbarth Catkin, we aim to ensure all children have a successful start to their school career. We make sure children are supported in becoming independent, active learners through building happy relationships with staff and exploring our fantastic indoor and outdoor environments.
In our Autumn term, we spend lots of time getting to know our class together and learn how to use our classroom environments. We want the children to feel ownership of their space and for them to know where everything is and how to use it so they can begin making progress in all areas of learning from the very beginning of school. Here are some examples of what we have been up to in our first few weeks!
Independence
A huge part of our time in nursery is devoted to building the children's independence. There are some things that will help us develop this further outlined in the document below;
Everyday the children have the choice of milk or water to drink. We have water bottle in school so the children do not need to bring one with them. Please can the children bring a healthy snack into Nursery with them each day. This may be: fresh fruit, fresh vegetable, vegetable sticks with hummus, bread sticks, squeezy yoghurts, sugar free jelly, dried fruits such a raisins, cheese or crackers.
Please could parents ensure all children's belongings are labelled so we can help your child to be responsible for their own things.
In Dosbarth Catkin, we are out in all weathers come rain or shine so please make sure we have either a suitable coat or a sun hat so we can make the most of our outdoor learning space each day!
