Meet The Team

Welcome to Dosbarth Maple's class page. In Dosbarth Maple, Miss Parry is our class Teacher and we have Mrs Lewis as our class Teaching Assistant, along with Mrs Gauterin who works with the three year 3/4 classes. We are very lucky to have Miss Jones who will be teaching Forest School on Monday afternoons, providing the pupils with fantastic opportunities for learning outside the classroom.

Here on our class page you will find all of the important documents you need and take a look at our learning in action.

General Information

PE: For Autumn Term, Dosbarth Maple will be having PE every Thursday afternoon. Children will need their PE every Thursday. Children will need black joggers or shorts, a plain white top and plain black trainers or pumps. Please make sure your child's PE is clearly labelled.

Forest School: Dosbarth Maple will be having Forest School every Monday afternoon with Miss Jones. Children will need their Forest School kit every Monday. Children will need need warm outdoor clothes and shoes that they don't mind getting wet and muddy.

Book bags: The children will be expected to return their book bags to school every Friday so reading books can be changed regularly. It would be really helpful if you could write a little note each week in their reading record to let us know how they've got on.

Autumn 1 - Reach for the Stars!

For the first three weeks of the term, we will be getting to know the children, giving them the opportunity to learn about their friends and themselves, as well as establishing our rules and routines in class. The children will think about their goals and aspirations and learn about using a 'growth mindset' to help them with their learning.

For the remainder of this half term our topic will be 'Inspirational People'. We will be using pupil voice to find out exactly what the children want to learn about. We will look at creating autobiographies, like so many inspirational people have done around the world. In Welsh, we will be asking questions to understand basic information about each other and developing our conversational skills. Our PE focus will be on Gymnastics, primarily on movement. In Maths, Place Value is a main focus so any types of number games you can play at home with your children would be very beneficial.

Homework

Here you will find our Homework grids which will usually be posted every second Friday of a fresh half term. There are 6 activities in total all differentiated so please choose which activities you think are most appropriate for your child and complete at least 3. You can submit Homework via Seesaw, Twitter or bring it into school. All children should be able to upload to Seesaw from home but if you have any trouble with this, contact the class teacher via Seesaw. We expect the children to be sending home via their own accounts and not through parent's messages as it encourages independence and ICT skills.

Please find a copy below, or click the link to download a copy:
